About the Event

This is the first phase of selections to select Team Malaysia 2024 for the World Schools Debating Championship which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia on 16 - 26 July 2024. In our mission to create a sustainable model to financially support the national team’s competitive journey, applications will incur a RM60 fee in exchange for the following resources:

💻 One month trial access to MWSDES’ AI case file and fact sheet generator, Matter Master (for any month from October 2023 onwards).

🎟️ Free access to the online seminar “Introduction to WSDC” hosted on the 17th of September 2023, which includes tips on how to succeed in the Open Tryouts & Selections (a recording will be sent to participants who could not attend the live session!).

To apply for a spot, please complete the following steps:

1. Purchase a ticket on the Events page of our website.
2. Upon receiving your ticket number and the confirmation email, complete the application form that will be linked in the email. All applicants must submit their debating achievements and upload a video of them presenting a debate speech. The deadline for submission is the 15th of October 2023. The top candidates from this process will proceed directly to the Final Selections.
3. For Team Malaysia candidates who want to improve their chances of being selected for the Final Selections, they may choose to compete in the Open Tryouts held virtually on the 21st and 22nd of October 2023.
4. Successful candidates from both processes will be notified on the 22nd of October 2023, and will compete in the Final Selections held virtually on the 28th and 29th of October 2023.

Additional fees are applicable for the Open Tryouts and the Final Selections to compensate selectors.
